The short version: WIPS stores all your data on your device. We never see it. We never receive it. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics. On Android, your phone's own backup may include this data, the same as it does for any other app, but that's your phone doing it for you, not us. See What Data WIPS Collects and Data Storage below for the full picture.
Everything below explains this in detail. Two things involve any of your data going beyond your device, and neither of them is us: voice input, which is handled by your device or your browser through its own speech service (see Voice Input below for how that works), and your phone's own backup on Android (see Data Storage below for how that works). Neither one ever sends us anything. If you are testing a beta build of WIPS through Apple's TestFlight, there is a third one, and that one does involve us: Apple sends us crash logs and usage information about the beta, and anything you choose to send us in TestFlight feedback comes to us too. This policy covers the WIPS app itself. Our website has one separate, optional exception (a short waitlist form for launch updates), and that's covered on its own in the Website Waitlist section below.
WIPS is a task management application developed and published by Summerfield Technologies. WIPS is available as an installable web app at wips.summerfieldtech.com, and in app stores as it rolls out to them.

The WIPS app collects no personal data.
The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information. There are no user accounts and no registration process.
All content you create in WIPS (tasks, notes, moods, journal entries, ideas, and settings) is stored in your device's local storage, where no other app can read it. On Android, that storage can be included in your phone's own Google backup, the same as it is for any other app. See Data Storage below for exactly how that works and how to turn it off if you'd rather not.
One exception is our website's optional waitlist form, which does collect an email address if you choose to sign up for launch updates. That's unrelated to the app and to your tasks. See Website Waitlist below for exactly what it collects and why. The other is testing through Apple's TestFlight, where Apple collects information about the beta and shares it with us. See Beta Testing (TestFlight) below.
WIPS uses your device's built-in local storage to save your data. Specifically:
This storage is controlled entirely by your device's operating system. The WIPS app itself does not have a server, database, or cloud backend of any kind. We have no infrastructure of our own to sync your task data to, back it up to, or store it on.
If you delete the WIPS app, the data on your device goes with it.
On Android, your phone may already be backing this data up on its own, as part of Android's Auto Backup feature, the same way it backs up your other apps. That doesn't change anything above: WIPS itself still has no server and does none of this. It's your phone's operating system doing it, using your own Google account. We never see that backup and we can't access it.
On Android 9 and later, that backup is encrypted so that even Google can't read what's in it, but only if you have a screen lock (a PIN, pattern, or password) set on your phone. Without a screen lock, or on Android 7 or 8, it isn't encrypted that way. You can see this backup, and turn it off, anytime in your phone's Settings under Google > Backup. The exact menu varies a little by phone.
If you set up a new Android phone and restore from backup, or transfer directly from your old device, your WIPS data comes back automatically along with everything else on your phone. This describes Android. iPhones have their own backup system, iCloud Backup, run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. If it includes WIPS data, the same principle applies: it goes to your own account, and we never see it.
The only server-side storage anywhere in our product (other than Apple's own TestFlight servers, covered separately in Beta Testing (TestFlight) below) is the waitlist form described in Website Waitlist below, plus anonymous counters that tally how many people arrived from a given creator link (a number only, with no record of who). Neither has any connection to the app or to your task data.
This section covers our website's optional waitlist form and the anonymous creator-link counters that go with it, not the WIPS app. Together they're the only place we use server-side storage, and it's entirely separate from everything above.
If you choose to sign up on our website for launch and testing updates, we collect:
That's the entire signup record: nothing else is stored with it. It's held in Cloudflare's infrastructure (the same platform that hosts our website), not on a server we run ourselves.
We use this list for one purpose only: emailing you when WIPS launches on a new platform, or when we're looking for testers. We don't use it for anything else, and we never sell, share, or hand it to any third party.
We keep waitlist emails until our launch and testing emails are done, or until you ask us to remove yours, whichever comes first. To be removed, email hello@summerfieldtech.com and we'll delete your entry. Removal is currently manual on our end, so a quick email is the reliable way to reach us.
To catch spam and abuse, we run a one-way scrambled (SHA-256 hashed) version of your device's IP address through a short-term abuse check. This happens whenever you submit the waitlist form, and it also happens automatically, on page load, if you arrive on our site through a creator's link, whether or not you go on to sign up. That scrambled value is deleted automatically after 5 minutes, is never stored next to your email address, and we never store your actual IP address.
If you arrive on our site through a creator's link, we also briefly hold that link's code in your browser's own session storage, not on our server. It's just the code, it's cleared the moment you close the tab, and it's only used so a signup you make afterward credits the right creator.
WIPS does not include:
WIPS itself doesn't add any of that. We do not know how many times you open the released app, which features you use, or how long you spend in any screen, and we intentionally do not collect this information. Testing WIPS through Apple's TestFlight beta program is different, because TestFlight is Apple's own system, run under Apple's own privacy terms, not ours. There, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with us, the same as it does for every app distributed through TestFlight. See Beta Testing (TestFlight) below for exactly what that includes and how to ask us to delete it.
Everything above describes the released WIPS app, wherever you are using it: in your browser, as an installed web app, or from a store where WIPS is available. If you're testing WIPS through Apple's TestFlight beta program on iPhone, a few things work differently, because TestFlight is Apple's system, run under Apple's own privacy terms, not ours.
While you're testing a beta build, Apple automatically collects certain information and shares it with us. We didn't choose this, we can't turn it off, and you can't opt out of it either; it's part of how TestFlight works for every app on it. What Apple shares with us includes:
If you send us feedback from inside TestFlight, we also receive whatever comments you write, any screenshot you choose to attach, and a snapshot of technical details from that moment: your carrier, time zone, connection type, device architecture and screen resolution, your battery level, how much free disk space you have, how long the app had been running, and your Apple Watch model if you have one paired.
Whether Apple shares your name and email address with us depends on how you joined. If you joined through a public link, Apple keeps that to itself, and we only see an anonymous tester. If you were invited directly by email, Apple shares your name and email address with us along with everything above.
We use everything Apple shares with us only to find and fix bugs, we never share it onward, and it lives in Apple's App Store Connect on Apple's own schedule. Anything we copy out to work on a specific bug is deleted once that bug closes. Apple keeps beta feedback for one year, and may keep crash and usage data for as long as the related bug is still open. If you'd like anything we've received about your TestFlight testing deleted, or you have questions about it, email privacy@summerfieldtech.com.
Because the WIPS app collects no data, there is no app data to share with third parties. The email addresses collected through our website's waitlist form (see Website Waitlist above) are stored only in our own infrastructure. We do not sell, license, or transmit any user data, from the app or the waitlist, to any company, service, or individual. The same applies to TestFlight: Apple's own terms do not permit application providers like us to share what it collects there with third parties, and we do not either. See Beta Testing (TestFlight) above for exactly what Apple shares with us and what we do with it.
WIPS includes an optional voice input feature that lets you speak instead of type, anywhere in the app that takes text. When you use voice input:
Your device or your browser may process voice input under its own privacy policy. WIPS has no control over that processing and receives only the resulting text.
WIPS may request the following permissions. Each permission is optional and has a specific purpose:
No other permissions are requested. WIPS does not access your contacts, calendar, photos, location, or any other personal data on your device.
WIPS is rated for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the WIPS app collects no personal data from any user, this policy applies equally to app users of all ages. Our website's waitlist form is intended for adults signing up on their own behalf and is not directed at children; if you believe a child's email address was submitted to it, email hello@summerfieldtech.com and we'll remove it.
Because your WIPS app data is stored on your device, and any Android backup copy sits in your own Google account, you are already in full control of it. You can:
There is no account to close for the app, no app data held on any server of ours, and no app data retention period on our side, because we hold none of it. If this privacy policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at this URL. If a change affects how data is handled in a material way, we will notify users through an in-app notice at the time of the update.
Given WIPS's data-free architecture, material changes are unlikely. Any change that would introduce data collection would represent a fundamental change to the product, and would be communicated clearly before taking effect.
